Default 2006 Street Glide Performance

Ordered a vivid black SG due for delivery in January and considering the following performance upgrades: Stage II w/203 cam, HTCC ported heads, PC III and Supertrapp 2 into 1 exhaust. Goal is 100+hp and 100 ft lbs tq. Any comments from those familiar with this set up?

Cams you chose not a good match for high compression heads, SERT would be my choice for engine tuning.

Hello there Pete , not sure about about the heads, I just purchased 03 SG with the stageII, 203 cams, Rhinehart exhaust system, the bike runs Killer so far, Also had the factory download allot of people say not to have , I've had no performance problems over 500k miles already, No popping or running problems , I am going to put race tunner on about 1000k mile service and get on the dyno , time will tell. I've rode an 03 fatbooy with stage II, 203, Bazani pipes and so far think the SG is quicker time will tell, chromed out fatboy will now get less rideing time now .

Mike (I assume), thanks for the reply and glad to hear you had success with this combo. Looking at the SE catalog it seems I also have to go with new HTCC pistons to match the heads. Hmmm, the cash register keeps ringing! Wondering if it is worth it? Heard many advocates of both SERT and PCIII, my dealer is recommending the PCIII tuner. Should be interesting to see what you get on the dyno.

why don't you just get a v-rod? never did really see the point of doing a bagger up with big horsepower. stock engine with pipes, air and pcIII will give you a real strong bike if it is tuned by a pro. 75 hp with reliability, fuel economy and rideability makes for a real nice ride.

If you need to stay with SE the 211 or 251, 251 would be my choice of SE cams, other makers like S&S 570 or Andrews 44.
bountyhunter, dont worry, you dont need to understand, its not your bike he asked about.

Perhaps you are right, stock engine, pipes, ac and PCIII is all I need to use as a baseline. If I want more, I can upgrade again later. Just evaluating my options with this knowledgeable community. My original question was whether changing heads, pistons and cam will get me to the century mark (hp/tq) and would that increase in performance be significant on the street? Don't want to spend that money for marginal bang for the buck. I like the comfort/convenience of a touring bike, but the muscle of a VROD I guess. As the expression goes, you don't need it, but it's good to have! Larry, thanks for the cam recommendation.

If you can't understand why we spend the money to go big inches on a bagger then you need to ride mine. I've never tried to talk anyone out of buying a V-Rod. I think they are great bikes and if I had the money to buy one of them I would for a second bike to play around on. Never see anyone touring on a V-Rod.
