Same problem here. Solenoid is stuck so I just lightly tap the end of the solenoid with a screwdriver handle and it starts. ( embarrassing )
The local stealer says they cannot help me unless it does it right at the dealership, and it is very intermittent.
I am a tad pissed with them.
Does it do it only after you disarm the security system?
If so try NOT arming the security system for awhile, it may have trouble.
Also the PCiii according to prior posts in the past has been known to cause
problems if you wait for the full cycle before starting.
Try starting as soon as you turn bike on.
Something to do with the way the PCiii receives power and cycles itself.
there could be other issues but let's sort them out one at a time.
I have an '08 Road King that just developed the same issue. At first I thought it might be in the switch but, I have a feeling there's a loose connection between the bars and the ECU because when I turn my bars hard to the left,,,,,it starts. I'm due for my 5000 mile check so I'm going to tell the dealer and hopefully they'll fix it.
My 07 ultra is in the shop now for cranking over and you can here the fuel pump but no lite off. It quit while I was riding as i shifted to 2nd gear after start up and would not restart!
Better late than never.
I fixed the no start problem. ( a long time ago)
It was the solenoid plunger getting stuck. Just take it apart and put a very fine
coating of silver anti-seize on the cupped fiber stopper that bottoms out inside
the solenoid.
That was 3 years ago and it has never happened again!
