I want to trim a couple inches off of the bottom of my Clearview shield. Does anyone have any experience doing this? One of my concerns is what to use to replace the black masking when the job is completed.
The clearview has a curve at the end so if you trimmed it, it would not function correctly. If you want a shorter one, sell the one you have and buy a shorter one.
If you trim it off the bottomit will be narrower than it is now, at the bottom.
Is that the look you want?
Id sell it and buy another. Really.
Just sayin
I have trimmed every windshield i've had. I run masking tape in the erea i want to trim. I then draw a line where i want to cut.I use a dremel tool with a cut off wheel. I dont try and cut through all at once but cut partially through on several different passes. let it cool between passes and on final pass cut all the way through. after its cut I run a belt sander along the edge to smooth it out. After that I sand the edge with wet sandpaper. If done right it will have a factory edge. This takes a little time but you can get it exactly how you want. good luck

Exactly.
And trimming it at the top, would remove the reason you probably bought it.....the recurve portion.
Call Clearview. They can either trim it for ya (you pay shipping I am sure), or maybe make you a deal on another one?
I just bought a FLTCU and the screen was smokey. All that I tried wouldn't clear so I cut the screen down. First I hand cut with a hack-saw. Slow and not as straight as I would have liked. After test fitting I didn't like the height so I cut it down again with a fine blade using with my electric hand jig-saw. Blew thru like butter and better control. Came out great and it was easy. Assume you have a polycarb screen. Mark it, then tape with masking then step up and go to it. It's easy.
