CHAPS Help???
I wear leather overpants from Firstgear. They go on like chaps (full zippers up the legs) but have the added protection/warmth of full pants. When it's cold enough for chaps, these overpants really shine.
I wear FirstGear textile overpants. They are windproof, waterproof, zip up the sides and have a removable quilted liner. I have found these to be the best all around riding pant. They don't stiffen up as the temps drop either and since they are a pant, they protect the boys and keep them comfy too.
You cannot make that kind of post without pix tohelp us believe that's true.
On the subject of chaps, just got some Colorado kevlar chaps - windproof, waterproof; wear warmer clothes underneath.

I would reccomend lined chaps. They arewarmer and the black dye won't "bleed" onto your pants if you hit some rain. Also, get chaps with external cargo pockets. Mine have inner pockets which extend clear down to the knee, and are a real pain in a$$ to get into. Otherwise, chaps are just great for cooler temps and are easy to get on and off as well as being easy to store.
I agree with Soos, the First Gear textile are the way to go. Leather only works for short rides above the mid 40's. On my last ride at the end of September, my Firsts', without liner, were on from Billings, MT until I got back to Bellingham, WA. Temps ranged from 28 to 44*s.
