I have a 2007 Ultra Classic. The bike is stock at the moment. I am wanting to do some upgrades. I am wanting to add a thundermax fuel management system, a new breather, and exhaust. I was leaning toward true duals, but after reading here, it seems true duals decrease performance, but make nice nosie. I guess the question I am wanting to know is. Do true Rhineharts duals really decrease performance?
You can see what I did in my sig.
I did it mostly to get my engine to run cooler. I've heard everything about losing torque with true duals. All I can say is my bike feels faster, sounds faster, and runs cooler. Mission accomplished!
When you find side by side comparisons of after market exhaust systems (they are few and far between) there is usually less than a couple of %'s differance in torque and HP between the best and the worst and sometimes you have to really scratch your head to decide which one actually is the best even with all the figures right there in front of you.
The bottom line is most all systems are better than stock so get what you like.
I have a set of Rinehart True Duals on my 07 RC with a Super Sucker and aSERT and it makes 86 HP at 5200 RPM's and 105 Torque at 3500 RPM'swith no dips or dives anywhere in the curves.
It runs great.
If you like the looks of pipes on both sides, you'll be happier with slipons than true duals, and so will your hp output. Stock head pipes are good performers, IMHO. If that style isn't an issue, you won't go back after going 2-into-1. They are very tuneable, can be quieted depending on end caps, and improve the power-to-weight ratio as soon as they are installed.
