Default Mentle Bars

Anyone running the Klock Werks "mentle handlebars" on their king custom? I've heard they are more comfortable than the stock bars. I have been debating 16" apes too. I'm 6'2", and heard that tall guys like the apes. Any suggestions or comments?

Thanks

Hey, Trev. I have a rk custom with 18" apes. I love the damn things, and would not ride without them. I am 6'1", so not much different than you (except I am a fat guy). I find that they are really comfortable, and my hands sit right at shoulder height. One thing you have to consider is your windshield. If you ride with one, like I do during the winter, you might have some fitment issues. For me, the bars have to be in line with the forks for the shield to fit. I like the position of them pushed more forward, and ride like that during the summer. But, I just had to reposition them for the winter with the shield. If you have plans of ever going with a detachable fairing, keep this in mind. All of the manufacture I have contacted said theirs will not work with my bars. I have seen some that still find a way to run the fairings, but they must pull the bars in line with the forks. The main reason I like mine pushed more forward is for comfort. I find when the bars are in line with the forks, you tend to lean back, a lot. My wife hated this, as I was putting to much of my weight on her. She wouldn't even ride with me until I adjusted them.

Since you are slightly taller than I am, you may want to think about 18" bars. My wife thought they would be way to tall, but after riding with them, I was glad I didn't go 18". I got my bars at www.LAChoppers.com , and i do really like them. However, if I was buying bars again, I would have gone with the ones my wife talked me out of. They are their ***** F'ers, 18". Heck, I still might, if I can sell off the ones that I have now. I really like the squared off look of those. Oh well, I am still happy with my bars, as far as comfort is concerned.

BTW, do you have a link to those mentle bars?
