Young kid at work solicited my opinion on this Friday and heres my response: Personally I'd say a 2002-2005 TC 88 witharound 10000 miles or lessfor around 13000-15000. The 06-07's seem to demand the PC3 or download plus the 5th gear issue and leaking crankcase thingI've read aboutturns me off. With the 3000-5000 or moresaved by buying these older TC88's itseemsto methat (if you want)you can add a true 6 speed (2899.00 installed)and new tires brake pads and synthetic fluid all around ( if any of that was needed ) and come out with a more versatile machine thats less picky or plagued. Just my opinion of course........ not dumping on aything or anyone or anybike or anystate or anyones shoes etc etc..
I would agree with your year range. Further, I would look for an Electra-Glide Standard. These have the lowest resale and are a blank canvas for making your own. Road King would be another good choice, but will likely demand more money than a EG Standard.
You knowI don't know. I'm just quoting what was on the service board "Fall specials" at my dealer last weekend. "True 6 speed just 2899 installed" get yours doneover the winter. Got me thinking. But I think they mean the ratios are different than the factory 6 speeds on the 06 and up. But both are still 6 speeds aren't they?
Biggzed, Good point I do see a lot of value in EG Standards and definetely RK's too. As long as you can live without the factory radio a RK would be an even better choice than an EG. I'll mention this to the kid on Wed whenI return to work.
Phat96, is the suspension height in the photo the way you ride that bike? It looks awesome but it lookslike the bags are gonna scrape or is just the angle of the pic?
want to see a Deal?...I think this is a real good deal if it is what it says it is....http://boston.craigslist.org/sob/bar/455055722.html... less than 1K miles on a fresh build with all the right parts, plus the guy installed a radio to boot!!! All for $7000.00[sm=yikesomg.gif]
