Lost Jug!!
I was on my way home from work today when i got the dreaded engine light. then a couple seconds later it felt like i was running out of gas. the bike nosed over, and then got it home i checked to se if it was getting spark, and on both jugs it was. so i started it and felt the exhaust and the right one was warm and the left one was stone cold. any useful ideas?
thanks
thanks
no knoking, cant tell about fuel, but the plug is dry as a bone. no tools at home, thought id do a compression check tomorrow. the thing that gets me is it was intermitent for a couple seconds. then the jug finially went dead. i really feel its electrical. gonna disconect the power commander and run just off the ecm to rule that out

I didn't catch this part...Is the bike fuel infected or carbonated? If you know you have spark that leaves fuel. If the exhaust is cold there is no combustion. If the top part of the cylinder is warm you have heat from compression. If the bike is fuel infected you could have a bad injector or no signal to the injector. a Carbonator will not isolate one cylinder. that would be spark. If it is injected a simple test for fuel is to add your own. Carb spray or adding propane will supply a combustible mixture.
Try these ideas first and report back.

Mike,
If the exhaust was not hot, I'm guessing you didn't burn anything up. Sometimes a bad plug will do what you are describing. Even if you can see a spark with the plug out, it might not be firing under compression.
If that was the case however, you should have a damp plug from unburned fuel. You said the plug was dry, so an injector is probably the next place to look.
You said that you got a check engine light. I doubt that would happen if it was just a plug. It has to be something that the electronics box could see and respond to.
Let us know how things work out.
