ORIGINAL: Ultrasweet

Mine is an 07'. It has the cutouts but I still hit my feet with them being cut out. Because I am tall and my legs are long I ride with my feet way up front as far as possible. I am thinking I need to cut them some more or just take them back off. I suppose I could get used to riding with the fairings. T.
Well getting used to them is about all you can do at this point. Shouldn't be too hard to do.
If you do decide to take them off and sell them, let me know. I am interested in buying them from you.

how about triming the feet down instead?

Actually if you are patient and careful, you can cut the fairing down with a die grinder or dremel. but the plastic(I'm assuming your lowers are the new black plastic)will tend to melt from the heat caused by friction of the cutting wheel.
Practice on a piece of abs water / sewer pipe first.
Use some 2 inch wide masking tape over area to cut. Will help reduce paintchipping. use a marker to draw where cut is to be.
Then cut the area slowly. When done smooth the cut edge with some sandpaper. Gently remove tape. Soe clear aerosol spray coating for touch up if needed.
Done it this way on lots of plastic over the years. I haven't had a problem.
But then again, I'm not you.

If you practice with the lowers on you will eventually get used to them. I just took a motor officers course and was switching from the training bikes to my bike for the ride home and the was just a short transition period. I have no problem getting to the rear brake. If anything it keeps me from locking up the rear before I geet maximum front braking applied. Good luck.

For any of you guys that are unhappy with your lowers, feel free to PM. I am looking for a set to do a winter project with. Black pearl, preferably.

I just put mine back on after being off for almost 4 months. I was having the same problem the first day, but all is good now. You just have to get used to them being there...
