Is the Accesory rocker switch already connected to the battery. Can you remove the Fairing and connect to acc switch and it already be hot?. I want to hook my GPS to the accessory switch if possible. Bldr
Almost any of the assy wires inside the fairing can power a GPS. They are usually color coded Blank and Orange. Check your wiring diagram.
I "think" the assy switch sends power to the connector under the seat. In the bike I'm building with an 04 wiring harness, I traced the power wire from the assy sw/, cut it, and now use it to power the dimmer on the Digital Guages.
I tapped into the accessory switch on my FLHX. All I did was get two inline wire connectors and hooked it on the switched side of it. Works great and it kept me from running wires along the frame and kept it all neat inside of the fairing. All you need is a voltometer to determine which side has power when switched on. I didn't even need to remove any part of the fairing cap as you can easily (but carefully) reach up inside to finger crimp the wire connectors.
I plan on using the cig lighter for my GPS. How difficult is it to remove the fairing. I do have the manual. Not sure I feel comfy taking the fairing off.
Fairing removal is easy. Four screws on the inside and the three across the top. First time through have a helper to unplug the headlight. After that you will be able to do it yourself easy enough.
