Default 103 and 107 question

I am considering getting a 103 or 107 kit for my 07 SG. The plan now is only a jug and piston swap over the winter.

My questions on the 103/107 are: Who makes the 107? and will both the 103 and 107 kit look stock from the outside in terms of finish and fin design?

Right now just leaning toward the HD 103kit, but if there is another that will look stock from thenoutside, and not require the cases to come apart, I am all for it

Thanks in advance

Head Quarters is a great place to deal with, I did my Sportster with there help (man it runs).
I can hardly wait for my RCto be out of warranty to get there set up installed on it.
I've also read that those 107 cylinders disipate heat faster than the stock Harley cylinders which is another plus.

the 107 kits look completely stock as they bore old barrels to suit. I have the GMR 107 kit and i cannot recomend enough how great they are. Axtell make a 107kit and Revolution Performance do as well i think. RingSteve at GMR and he will be happy to fill you in.

427: Why do jugs and pistons and nothing else? If its a tight budget, consider saving your money and doing it later and be able to do the heads with a good set of cams and choose the pistons, etc. that go with that build. Trying to piece meal the build usually leads to a waste of $$$ along the way.

Call Doug at Head-Quarters and see what he thinks, or Steve at GMR.

If you want to do it so you can say you have a 103 or 107 go for it; but a stock bike with a set of bolt on cams will run better than what you are riding

If I were you (actually I am because I have the same bike and am planning a build this winter) go with the 103" and use the money you save by not replacing your jugs for a 107 and buy cams. Just doing the jugs will yield a minimal improvement.

Check out HQ, that is where I am planning on going thanks to everyone's input here.

Any issue with just boring my cylinders and buying pistons?

Harleypingman - I'll do head work, but we'll do that locally, my goal isnt so much to make peak power numbers but to shift the torque curve down a little, so I want to see how well the displacement changes things before I do a cam change.

Boring you jugs is fine. In fact, it's a GREAT idea!

I agree with those who have mentioned Head-Quarters. I would not rule out HQ head work, as Doug sets them up for his packages perfectly. He's one of the poineers in BigTwin performance work. I don't know how much torque you're looking for, but here's what he gave me in a 98" build. Admittedly, it's no103, but it's not to shabby nonetheless.

I'm doing a rebuild on the same bike now & it's gonna be a HQ 120".
