new Electra Glide Classic
I am picking up my new Electra Glide Classic today!! I feel like I'm 8 on Christmas morning.I was always a Goldwing guy but have finally seen the light. I'm looking forward to joining the Harley family and culture.
Y'all have any words of wisdom? I don't have a clue about the break-in procedure.Where to buy the goodies for the bike (dealer or web sites).

Listen to what your saleperson tells you about break in. There are two schools of thought concerning that around here. One says ride it like a bat out of hell and don't worry about it. The other says easy does it, keep varying the speed, etc. just like the owners manual. I broke my 08 Ultra in by the book but I couldn't tell you which is better.
As far as goodies go, where ever you find what hits your fancy is good. Just rememer H-D stands for high dollar or hundred dollar also. BTW, don't forget the Lone Star Rally this week end in Galveston. Riding There would take care of the break in.

Keep hanging out right here and you will be absolutly overwhelmed with info, links for goodies, best prices, best venders.......
This site is loaded with experience. Only been here a short time myself, and I can't soak it up fast emough.
A lot of the questions you will have in the beginning can be found by using the search function here.
Enjoy your ride. It's 39 here on the east coast but I'm guessing you've got plenty of riding weather there in Texas.

Welcome to the touring family. You'll love your Classic. Have the sales person go over everything on the bike before you drive it out the door. There are several HD dealers that offer discounts to online customers. Chicago HD and Biker Bobs HD are 2 that come to mind that offer 20% off and no sales tax.
Buy yourself a good CD, throw it in the bike and enjoy the ride. What color did you get?

I did this on my 08 ultra and kept under 50 for the first 50 miles and under 4000 RPM under the first 1000 miles. I also never used 6 gear in the first 1000 miles and didn't do any hiway driving for the first 300 miles. Vary your speed/\rpm often and especially dont LUG the motor.
I'm very happy with my bikes performance. You can read the post below yours about breaking in a new ultra, good ideas in there. Good luck and enjoy the new bike.

The only trouble you're going to have now is that no other bike will be quite as nice, comfortable, useful, or ... that is after just a few little parts and tweeks ($).

I know ah kin buy at a discount of 20% online, but ah like our dealer here in New Braunfels, an' their parts folks will spend time w/me to ensure ah'm gettin' the right stuff. If there's a problem, they'll be there ta help make it right.

I agree with all the previous posts on breaking in, at least by what the book says. Thats the way I just broke in my 08 UC. I like to use the internet for my goodies. The more I save the more I can purchase. With my old bike I did everything by way of the stealership. Now I just bring in the parts if I cannot install myself. I am still treated well from Service or Parts. I am in the DFW area and have a lot of stealerships to choose from. CONGRATULATIONS
