105 years and still can't make a fuel gauge that works! Good news is that there is another gauge that's even worse.....can you say air temp?

One more question then, how do I get the picture of my bike at the bottom of the page?
Go to your Profile page, scroll to bottom. Your picture needs to be hosted someplace on the internet, like photobucket or one of those photo sites.. then put the code and that [/img] behind it.

it'll work.

I'm thinking of replacing my analog"fuel gauge" on my Ultra with an "oil temperature" gauge. The 08's have the "fuel to empty" digital display on the speedoand the digital version isfarmore accurate,so who needs theredundancy. I'm actually surprised HD didn't opt to do something prior to model release.

I may do the same thing, I blocked my fuel gauge with my GPS and don't miss it at all. The countdown seems very accurate. I have taken it to zero and the bike took 5.6 gallons. Not sure what the usable fuel level is.

As we all know weither it's a Harley or any type of other vehicle fuel gauges are like weathermen, they ain't right all the time!!! What we are missing is a couple of other things. First in-tank fuel pumps are liquid cooled. They like being immersed in liquid (fuel) it makes them last longer. Secondly even though there is a screen the particulae matter in the bottom of you tank is less diluted and more apt to get sucked up and make its way into the fuel system. This as you might suspect is not good for your fuel system. So in closing you should stop a little more often it will be a lot easier on you and your bike.

For around town driving my light comes on at between 155 and 165 miles, and it takes 4 - 4.2 gallons to fill it up. AS far s the gauge, I get about 100 miles between full and 1/2 and then it drops like a rock. My F150 gauge does the same thing, in fact I think all my vehicles have been like that. The only thing I don't like about fuel injected bikes is that there is no petcock or reserve.

Not sure of your year? My 08 EG works great. Gas gaugeworks well. Gas light comes on with about 40 miles left, little over a gallon. It also has 2 trip meters and another nicefeature is the miles left meter (r), which you can read at anytime but automatically pops up when the light comes on. So I have a trip meter to keep an eye on, gas gauge and r-miles left meter. If I ever run out, I wouldn't tell anyone.

That's gonna vary from bike to bike in mah experience, so ah don't trust ANY of 'em until ah've got practical experience with 'em. Mah '07 UC takes 'bout 3.7 gallons when the light first comes on....
Mine takes 'bout 4.3 when the light comes on.

Interesting comments...but I'm trying to figure out whatyour comments on having harley davidson re-design the entirefuel trainhas to do with me adding the oil temp gauge in lieu of my analog gas gauge. I need to get this done in my lifetime.
