I may do the same thing, I blocked my fuel gauge with my GPS and don't miss it at all. The countdown seems very accurate. I have taken it to zero and the bike took 5.6 gallons. Not sure what the usable fuel level is.
That's great. Mine is the same, very accurate too. Hey, nice color combo. I'll let you know how I make out when it's done.
Chuck1 is right about the 08 Ultra's. My low fuel light comes onand the ODO display goes to42 at the same time. That's right about 200 miles after a fill up. Maybe the MoCo got the gages to work on the new ones!
My wife doesn't even bother with the gage on her Heritage. She figures 150 miles per tank.
Mine is an '05 Ultra. Tank holds 5.5 gals when totally empty. The gas gauge goes down rapidly after half because of the shape of the lower part of the tank. Smaller volume in the lower part.

I was going to say the samething about by 03 RK, with a mechanical gauge the shape of the tank has everything to do with the needle dropping after the half way point, I use my gauge without fear knowing that at the half it is going to go fast.At the light I can count on adding at least 4 gallons. I routinely go 180 miles on a tank without seeing the light.

My experience with my '08's fuel gauge is also quite good both the digital read-outand the dial. The low fuel warning that indicates 1 gallon left seems to be dead on accurate, also had good luck with my '07 Nightrain's fuel gauge.
5.5 or 5.6 gallons? My book says 5 gallons. Tried to calculate it yesterday. Light went on at 170 miles. Got fuel at 186 miles. Took 4.6 gallons. That would give me 0.8 gallons when the light goes on, and if averaging just over 40 mph I have a 200 mile range.
Sound right? Soon I'll grab a gas can a run her dry to verify.
I hear everyone about the shape of the gas tank - but, that should have been a design issue the MoCo engineers should have addressed - not for everyone to have inaccurate gauges.
