Talk about being upside down......golly!!!!!!!!!! You know though, I've been seeing more and more people upside down in their automobiles as well.
My own rule years ago......If I couldn't pay it off in three years. I was looking at the wrong vehicle. Nowdays, things cost so much and interest is not in the best shape.....I can see someone going four years now.
Many dealers advertise......some thing like......0% for 72 months. That is a great way to get upside and stay that way really quick. That guy probably did something like this......
Here's a perfect example - got this from mah sister the other day:
> we know a lady that has a Harley for sale if you know of anyone
> interested. She's sick (I think cancer) and it's getting ready to be
> repossessed.

> 2003 Anniversary Edition Night Train. Paid $19,738; owes $16,167. Just
> wants it gone. Has an additional $3k in chrome along w/the following:
> changed out front wheel, rim & spokes; derby, timer and horn cover;
> shortened upper kit; sprocket cover, low built guard kit. Unsure if I got
> it all right in the "correct" terms or what else it has.
Shame! They got my buddy at the stealer also. Borrowed the extended warranty, lifetime maintenence plan, insurance and gap on a 2007 softail. He bought it in September 06 and total was around $24K. It will be years before the loan catches up to what it is worth.
Too many folks that buy and turn around aftera year and sell. Patients is all it takes and you can get a bike with no miles for cheap.
Getting a brand new bike with zero miles may be a great feeling- not sure it is worth the large pricetag.
Thats how I got mine so cheap. My brother bought it in march of 06. Had all kinds of stuff added on, put 6,000 down and made four payments. I got it in Nov of 06 for 13,400. With 2000 miles on it. I have a friend right now that has been unemployed since Feb and is selling an 06 Sportster Custom with 10,000 miles on it for 4,000 to 4500 cash. Times are hard and money is getting tight for some people, it's even harder when their dumb.
