Today the stealer offered me between 11 and 12K for my '06 SG. Was thinking of trading to a '08 RG or another SG. I like the ABS and the smooth ride of the IDS.
There are only 6,200 on the odometer. When I asked if this was a joke he said it's fact. Since the 6 speed transmission came out the 5 speeds took a giant hit.
What a crock of SH*T.
Looks like I'll either be keeping the '06 or selling it on myself on ebay.
My SG is the second bike I purchased from this STEALER and will probably be the last!
If you really have to have an 08, sell that puppy outright. If it were me, I'd throw it on ebay with a reserve. If it sells, get the 08, if not.... just keep the 06. It's a great bike anyway.
I did a "completed listings" search on 2006 SG's on Ebay. It looked like the low-end was around $14K up to around $17K max. Looks to me like the stealer is trying to give you wholesale on your bike and sell you the new one at retail.
Uh....folks, that "stealer" is there to make a living, okay? He HAS to buy the bikes wholesale so he can then sell them and makea profit. They have to bring the bike in, check it over, and then inventory and sell it. Kinda like the place you work at does - they buy something for one price, put a profit on it and sell it. That's called "business" - NO one is a charity.
Texas,
I understand your point but after buying 2 bikes from them and since they are making plenty on the new '08I would like to thinkthat they would cut me a break and not insult me. I can't even tell you how much Crap I've purchased from them over the years. So much for Customer / Dealer loyalty.
I'll tell you one thing, I won't purchase from them again. Their loss!
If the dealer buys your bike (as a trade-in) at a retail price, how is he going to sell it and make a profit to cover his overhead (building, employee pay, etc.) and make some margin on the transaction?

The 6 speed transmission and larger TC96 engine. The Kelly Blue Book value can be found online..
Yer choice...personally, ah understand the issue from the dealer POV, and don't begrudge them their profit. Ah'm inclined ta think that they've done you right in the past on the pricing they've given you, and therefore they're doin' the best they can on a unit that is not only gonna be a slow mover with the smaller engine an' 5-speed tranny, BUT they're headin' into winter, normally NOT a time when bikes sell well. Put it on eBay an' then go buy whar ya want.
2006 Harley-Davidson FLHX Street Glide 2-Cylinder
4-Stroke
1450cc Trade-In Value (Good Condition) $11815* Trade-in Value is what consumers can expect to receive from a dealer for a trade-in unit assuming an accurate appraisal of condition. This value will likely be less than you would receive from a private party sale because the reselling dealer incurs the cost of safety inspections, reconditioning and other costs of doing business. Trade-in values are based on clean units in good condition, with all original standard equipment. Mileage/condition and additional equipment may have a substantial impact on the value shown above. http://www.kbb.com/kbb/Motorcycles/T...-Davidson.aspx
