I'll second what Smenasco said and add this.....at 15-20 mph or less, forget you have a front brake. If you apply it in a parking lot with the wheel turned, you will go down. No need to ask how I know or how many times I absorbed that lesson. It WILL go down. As someone else said, it's a lot heavier to pick up but the good part is it won't fall as far because of the crash bars and the rear bars. Do a search for how to pick up a bagger. Short version is to put our butt against the seat while squatting down , grab front crashbars (engineguard in Harley speak) and the rear bars. and then stand up.. As you approach the vertical, it's easier to lift up. If necessary, get your buddies to help and lay yours over on concrete on cardboard or packing blankets (anything to keep from scratching the chrome) then practice picking it up. If it starts to go over, let it..

Go out and ride...ride you go bagger, anything else is just a bar hopper

My front brake does not have very good stopping power compared to other bikes I've owned. I'm accustomed to using almost no rear brake. With the EG, my rear seems to have much more stopping power. Anyway, are you fronts really strong & this is what causes problems when using the front at slow speeds? With mine, even if I'm only going about 15-20mph I have to squeeze pretty hard on the lever to get it stopped with front brake only.

Great advise so far from everyone that has responded. I have been riding mine for 6 months now. Love the cruising ability of this machine. Slow manuevers can be tricky. Take it a step at a time, you already have the basic abilities and balance. Keep this thought all the time "I will not drop this bike ever". Dropping the bike on purpose is never an option for me, except dirt bikes. Maybe to avoid an accident.

I love jumping from my EG to the wife's 1200C sporty....what a kick it is. Power to weight ratio big time difference. Back to my motorcycle roots.

Ride safe, stay safe and have fun on her. You'll never look back.

See ya out there.

Ditto on the advise Smenaco gave you regarding the "Ride Like a Pro III video. I bought an Electra Glide Classic last May after not owning a bike for nearly 30 years. Believe me, in the beginning, that horse was intimidating. I bought the Ride Like a Pro III video as a follow-on to the basic Riders Edge training I took at my local dealer. The "Slow Race Exercise" is the key. Master that, and everything else will fall into place. Take your time and practice, practice, practice. Before you know it, you will be riding that Hog like you were born on it. Congrats on selecting the Electra Glide. It.s an awsome machine to ride.

You will love your EGS I love mine. We also have a Sportster in the household i like it also but for all around riding pleaser the EGS cant be beat. Just be careful in slow speed turns, I do keep my feet out in slow turns I have a sharpe turn into my garage from a down hill drive. I dont care if iI look like a dork. I rather hold my bike up then let it go over.
