I solved the problem by moving to Florida. Although it was in the low 50's this morning. But when I leave at 3:30 it should be on the upper 70's. I would say about 45 is my limit.
Was 28 for the ride home last nite. Only about 15 miles (highway) home. Longhandles, dockers and chaps on the bottom, long sleeve shirt, fleece pull over and leather jacket up top. 1/2 helmet and balaclava, and heated grips with midweight gloves.
Was fine for that distance, but anything longer or colder, and the full face is coming out.
I now have an Ultra with heated grips. Does anybody have any experience with heated grips in the low 30s? Will they be good enuff on a long ride (say 250+ miles) in the 30s, or should I wire my glove liners in?
Those hand warmers should be outlawed ... looks like heck ...LOL
I went for a ride yesterday while it was in the thirties with fog.
Being on a naked FXD I was hurting by the time I got to the indy shop 45 miles away.
My hands and upper core stayed warm. My knees froze from the wet and wind. I didn't wear my riding pants..
Ride home wasn't as bad, fog was gone and up to a balmy 44* ....
Wearinga pair of wool gloves under summer gloves helps keep the pinkies warm.
I got some from the Dollar Store. They look like they are made for a little kid, very small, but streach over and makes for a good comfy fit under my outer gloves.
I sure miss my Ultra about now!
