If it were me, I would use a radio to fill that hole.
There are a lot of aftermarket units out there that are not too pricy.

OK, lets see if this works...
Please ignore the scratches and the cheap wrist-watch face stuck to the inside of the door, this bike is my "SUV" 8-9 months of the year so she takes a beating.
The door is painted with truck bed-liner material on the outside, and rattle-can flat black on the inside. I'll eventually re-paint it, and paint the latch black too. I will eventually find some kind of cool little doo-dad to serve as the pull handle too I suppose. The hinge is just a $3 Home Depot deal riveted to the door and the stock non-radio box.
