Hello John,

Thanks for your e-mail, and for shopping the Crutchfield web site.

I will be happy to help with your question on the 5 ¼ speakers for you 08 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. I would recommend the Polk Audio speakers, because they are marine graded and they will last. You can view these items from the link below:

Can't vouch for those (and can't see 'em either - the link doesn't bring them up), but I did put Polk Audio tweeters on my bike and really like 'em. My guess is that they're 4 ohm speakers and you'll need 2 ohms to work with the factory system.

That link didn't work for me... but if they are not 2 ohm, don't bother. The JBL 527's are designed for car doors, they get wet in there. They are as or more waterproof than the stock speakers. I put a set of the JBLs in last night.

I went to Crutchfield -The 5 1/4" Polks were all 4 ohms

2006 and newer HD stereo needs 2 ohms

The polks are 4ohm and will work but will have reduced output (loudness).

Thanks for the thoughts, and yes they are 4 om. I think I will stay with the JDL.
