Default 2008 Ultra

Hello forum,
I am brand new to this forum and want some feedback on a couple of problems I am having. I recently sold my 2006 Ultra and bought a 2008 ultra. I moved my screaming eagle race mufflers (made by kerker) to the new bike and was then told by the service manager at my dealer that they would viod my motor and transmission warranty. Sounded like BS to me so I called another dealer AND harley customer service and was told by both that those pipes(just slip on's)would not void my warranty. My service manager stands by his statement and advised he would get thatfor me in writing from HarleyDavidson. SO until I get that in writingI am crusing the stock crap. Also any other '08 riders please give me your feedback on the electronic throttle. I am not sure I am too crazy about it, but the anti-lock brakes are awsome as is the new six speed tranny.

Thanks for your feedback.

Adding slip-on mufflers will NOT void your warranty. There are not many guys around that still have stock pipes and aren't having any warranty issues. Your guy is full of CRAP !!! I used to work at a HD dealer and nothing like this was ever an issue.

You need to find another dealer. The only any mod can void your waranty is if they can prove it caused the waranty problem.

I think you dealer was just pissed because you didn't buy new mufflers from him. If you have another dealer reasonably close to you I would take my business to them.

Not so fast guys. The SE mufflers that show the stop sign can void the warranty technically according to the book. However ,most dealers will stand by the warranty. The ones I am talking about are the old versions with the SE script on the side that require separate purchase of end caps with the button head screw and not the flat recessed screw. Again, I would as stated find another dealer because most are more liberal. It is like say the Rinehart true duals. Technically they would void the warranty. But if you let the dealer do a hi-flow,do a Race Tuner and dyno tune the bike most will stand by the warranty and the bike will run cooler and perform better.

According to some dealers anything you do voids the waranty. Not sure that would stand up in court. Like I said find another dealer. There are still some good ones out there.

Here is some information on the Federal Laws regarding vehicle warranties, The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302(C))

This federal law regulates warranties for the protection of consumers. The essence of the law concerning aftermarket auto parts is that a vehicle
manufacturer may not condition a written or implied warranty on the consumers using parts or services which are identified by brand, trade, or
corporate name (such as the vehicle maker's brand) unless the parts or service are provided free of charge. The law means that the use of an
aftermarket part alone is not cause for denying the warranty. However, the law's protection does not extend to aftermarket parts in situations where such parts actually caused the damage being claimed under the warranty.

Get a copy of the complete law and hand it to the owner of your dealership not some lame *** service manager whose job is to make you go away.

I figured on waiting until about February to do any exhaust/intake/fuel management system work. Didn't get ABS because I wasn't sure about it on a bike and not ready to try something that new.

To be real honest, there is only one thing I have noticed different on the throttle and that's when using the cruise control. Other than that, I can't see or feel any difference.
