2008 Ultra
I really appreciate all your inputs. I have been riding Harley's for 20 years and this my 10th brand new bike and I have NEVER had this issue before.
As I stated. These are "Screaming Eagle" (stamped right on the side) slip on Mufflers made by Kerker exhaust. Harley Does not sell these anymore and thay are only available under the Kerker name now. They do state on the muffler that they are for closed course use only and do not meet federal emmisssions guidlines. But I purchased these from this same dealer in 2006 when I bought my last ultra and warranty was never an issue. I think this guy is just a ********.
Thanks again for your advice.
I have spent nearly $90,000.00 in this harley shop over the last 9 or so years, and they have seen my last penny. I even cancelled my VIP membership with them and purchased it from another dealer yesterday. Do you know that after spending that kind of money in their shop, they would not even give me and my wife a free t-shirt after this last purchase.........
99% of the bikes we service have aftermarket systems, 99.9% of the exhaust we sell is aftermarket.
In 25 years I've never had HD inquire if the bike was running other than stock exhaust. Look in the SE catalog,do you believe they would sell all the upgrades and expect their buyers to run stock exhaust with them. Don't ask/Don't tell
While in some cases your local HD Dealer can "sneak" a warranty issue through Harley's process as a courtesy to its own customers, it is highly unlikely that another Dealer will extend the same courtesy.
No matter what your local Dealer may tell you, the explanation of the warranty listed above is an honest interpretation of how Harley-Davidson is now enforcing its warranty.
Warranty: Installation of SE products, and similar off-road or competition products from other manufactures, except some street-legal offerings installed by AUTHORIZED HARLEY DEALERS, MAY void your H-D limited vehicle warranty. See your dealer for more information.
Maybe they should add "competent" dealer for info.
cms 1528 is on the money! "MAY," means if the manufacture can prove that the modifications made were the cause of failure. Let me tell you this though, I have heard alot of people posting about the MOCO being "idiot's" and whatever. There aresome of the best engineers and technicians in the world working at the MOCO and what some think is no big deal they will prove you wrong. Don't tread lightly, but I wouldhave those new slip-on's put on and ride by that dealer telling him your NEW servicing dealer installed them. Sounds like the old Service Manager doesn't want your business.
