I'm adding a Tour Pak to my Road King this winter. The next mod is going to be a new Corbin seat. I figure what better reason to ride to Florida than to get a custom measurement so thedual tourfits just right. So here's my question.

Assuming I am going to drive to Ormond Beach (Corbin) from North Carolina in the early spring what's the best time to avoid all the spring break crowd and Bike week yet have nice weather. I'm not interested in leaving before mid March so I can miss all the crowd after March 9th. I've got nothing against bike week, just getting too crowded for my taste.

I don't want to drive I 95, so if anybody has any back roadroutes they like to drive south I'd love to hear. I'm figure it'll take 5-6 days to make the trip at an enjoyable pace.

While I hate discouriging rides to Florida & particularly Ormond Beach, I have to ask if you've considered Mean City Cycles in North Carolina. They modify your stock seat (which I've usually found to be a better & less expensive method than buying aftermarket) & are a supporting vendor for this forum.

Looks to me like you could get what you want done close to home & ride the new seat to Ormond............

Try 441 south to 40 east. Hit US 1 and go north a short hop to Ormond.

Unless they have changed, only the Corbin dealer in CA makes custom seats. I called a couple of months ago about getting a seat made for a bike I'm building and was told I'd have to drive it to CA, FL just sells off the shelf seats.

What part of NC you coming from?...I'd say the best backroads are the scenic one's and it doesn't get any better then rolling down the beach...US1 & A1A...There is also some beautiful backwoods country roads, nothing like NC, it's all flat here...check out some traveling websites and don't forget to bring the banjo and some vasiline...yehaw!!

Ok, you got me on that one. I live in New Smyrna Beach, so everything in Ormond is North of me. lol
I should have said "Try 441 south to 40 east. Hit US 1 and go north a short hop to Corbin.".

Anytime during March is going to be busy in the Daytona area, springbreak last much more then a week because all the colleges are on different schedules. Also I believe the other post that mentioned that Corbins custom seats aren't done in Florida, I know a member with a Roadking here in Florida whose seat is being done in Florida.
