Default Cell Phone Numbers

Just a suggestion, may help if someone else has to use your phone to contact a family member in case of an emergency. Most folks list our contacts in our phones by name..... I do with some of them, but with family members I list them as, "Parents", "Wife", "Home Number", "Brother", "Sister".. etc. In the event of an emergency it may be FASTER and Easier for (God forbid) EMS, Police, Fire, etc., to contact someone who has authority to "help" us out in some way or another, or will know how to notify all family members in the event of an emergency. Using first names can just prolong the process.......... most of us have tons of listings in our phones. Anyway, just food for thought, I've done this for years. Any advantage is better than none.

I've worked more crashes than most people have seen. Checking a cell phone would be a last resort. Most people carry a wallet or purse and that's where identifying info is gathered. But if it makes you feel better, program it your phone. The idea of a "in case of emergency' card in your wallet is the best idea.

I don't really worry about it. With a cell phone in one pocket, a license in another pocket, an employee ID in my wallet, they can easily find someone to identify the body. Heck, even carrying a cell phone is light years ahead of the days of hitting the road for days and never calling home.

Most NEWER Cell phones are already set-up and have a "COE" (Case Of Emergency) in the directory - Allows the listings of upto 3 people to notify in case of emergency -

On my cell, I have three emergency contacts listed as Emergency1(name), Emergency2(name), etc etc

I would rather if something terrible happened, that EMS personnel can contact my family, instead of saying WTF......and the wife doesn't find out until hours later.

At least here in the Northeast, emergency personnel are trained to check cellphones for the number listed under ICE (In Case of Emergency) in the phone's address book. People are encouraged to use the ICE designation for their emergency contact number here.
