I want to know who has put the most miles on their evo 1340 engine before having to do major repairs on it. I have 31000K on mine and only have had to replace the clutch cable. It runs strong.
My last bike was a 1340 evo.....it had a top end rebuild at 50 k. When I traded it at 78 k, it would smoke a little bit on decel, and if I got on the gas hard. Other than that, no problems.
Last FXR was sold with a 100k on it and except for a base gasket that seeped a tiny amount until it warmed up, it ran perfectly. Have 31k on my current EVO FLHT and plan to run it for a long, long time.
Evo's may only be 80", but if they are properly maintained, they will run for a hell of a long time.
My 1998 Electra Glide Classic has justa little over 180,000 miles. I bought the bike new in late 1997...so I am the original owner.
Anyways, it has the original rings, pistons, jugs, heads, and bottom end. Nothing has ever been done to the engine due to any failure. At 70,000 miles.....I replaced the INA cam bearing to the Torrington cam bearing.
The bike still runs pretty good.....still delivers around 50 mpg. I've noticed that in the past 1,000 miles.....it has started burning one quart every 1,000 miles and power has decreased.
I had a 86,91,and a 97, all baggers, all left stock. Each had over 100K when they were traded. A few leaks and minor repairs but nothing serious. Evos were, and still are good engines.
