Today I finally got to take my first ride, Harley is missing the boat by not listing the Road Glide as a sport tourer, this bike handles like a 400 lb bike, it's actually flic-able, strong cross winds had no effect on stabilty, (thanks to the frame mounted fairing ) ,I tought my 07 EG Classic was great, this bike is a ton of fun, maybe I have found a keeper.
SSSHHH...You're not supposed to tell anyone! (yes, it is HD's best model) You need to first familiarize yourself with the Road Glide Code of Silence (the bike is HD's best kept secret). NoNoNo, the bike hadles like crap (super nimble yet planted and sure on the highway). I hate riding this bike (I never want to stop riding. Wish my ride home from work everyday was longer). OK Get it?
Congrats on the new scoot, and welcome to the forums Touring Family. I'm sure you'll hate having to rideit .
Congratulations your going to love it.
I try not to tell people but my 08 Road Glide is best Harley I have ever owned. I have had seven different Harleys and none were as nice as the Road Glide.
Like a lot of other people I couldn't bring myself to buy a Harley with a fixed fairing. Boy was I wrong!!!
I wish I had gone over to the Roadie sooner.
Oh well I have one now and I'm keeping it.

Within the HD world that's exactly what it is and most of us that ride 'em know that....Why market it as such and scare awaypotentialbuyers looking to fit comfortably within stereotypical HD boundaries ?
The Maffia has a code of silence--"Omerta"--Once you break it you gonna pay wit' your life.
Now you are breakin' our code--You know nuttin' bout da RG----capich !!
I think "the rider" has alot to do with the Sport Touring idea,
(Now this is not ment to start a pouting contest or flame war. Cuz I dont play)
as the Road glide is the same bike as others are, except the fairing.
Unless Harley has added things to Road Glide that they dont want to advertise or have the customer pay for (see catalog pages).
Just Sayin.
I think the Road Glide is a Pretty Bike!
Not the one I decided to pay cash for, but a nice bike.
And by the way Congrats on your purchase of your Road Glide.
I don't know for sure but I read or saw an article about the triple clamp location being behind the steering head, again ,I havn't looked at mine yet, is the set-up different on the RG then on the EG ?????

Wikipedia:"Sport touring refers to either a style of motorcycle design, or a philosophy of riding. It is an attempt to blend performance with long-distance capabilities "
That being the case:
If I had anUltra Glide and wanted to make it's performance closer to that of a Sports Touring motorcycle the first things I'd do isget rid ofthe Tourpack and Lowers and swap the Batwing for a Road Glide Fairing....
