It ain't just the quiet exaust I'm lookin for , its one that is performance too. Wood's performance suggested the supertrapp 2in1 to me for performance and quieter than the D&D Fat CAt I had on my Wide Glide.
When Thundermax comes out with the new Tm for th 08 Touring and I can git the pipes I want. I will probaly be puttin some Woods cams in my bagger. My builder said they kick *** from bottom end threw mid range. I should be to 100 by then. Something about the 08 with the stock mufflers off seem to wind up pretty good.
I've has D&D with the quiet baffel, and on a 500 mile ride the sound beats you up pretty good.
Think I want to hear more on the Supertrapp 2in1 supermegs and their performance and how many disc they went with for performance and quieter sound. I do a lot of 300 plus mile rides. Sure could dig some sound clips.
Cardboard, try American Classic Motors on E-bay. Just picked up a set of Super Trapp Super Meg 2-1's for $534.95 shipped for an '07. Do a search for "SUPERTRAPP 2-INTO-1 EXHAUST PIPE 07-08 HARLEY TOURING" on e-bayto findthe auction. They acceptedmybest offer of $505. Make 'em a lower offer and see if they accept.
Have had the SuperTrapps installed for two days now and love 'em. Have 17 discs in right now, and will start to add discs to see what happens. Bike runs faster, smoother and quieter at all speeds compared to the previous true duals. Sorry, don't have an audio file for the pipe sound.
I've reada few posts from some who have installed theRush pipes with the 1.75" baffles and thought they were to loud, so the switched to the 1.50 baffles and it didn't seem to make that much difference. There are severalwho like the Supertrapp SE Touring mufflers and maybe they have redesigned them since they built the same pipes for Harley ending in 06, but will agree that theS E sound clip on theirwebsite does have a clacking sound. You can research different types of pipes on the forum to get an idea of what your looking for, but the only real way to find a pipe you'll like is to listen to it on the open road.
When I see some of the posts complaining about the sound of the Supertrapp SE slipons, I'm thinking I must have gotten something different. Here is an accurate description. They sound just like the Rineharts with about a 30% decrease in volume. A thumping bass sound. Don't know if it would replicate the sound but I'll put my phone next to it for anyone interested in such a hearing test. They sound great!
