Default Screamin Eagle ???

Maybe I haven't looked deep enough, but with the 2006 Cat/Mufflers causing so many problems I am concerned. We have our latest family member, a 2006 Electra Glide Ultra Screamin Eagle. No modifications needed yet, no stalling or any oddities noted. Is this because it has Screamin Eagle mufflers already? I have been looking all over for more info on the 103 and what is recomended to get the best performance. Thanks in advance, Dave

I just listened to the pipes on a Screamin Eagle Ultra last week at my dealers. Wow, they sound better than any stock hd pipes I've heard. If you are happy with the performance so far then I'd leave it alone for awhile. If you do any mods (especially on the SE Ultra) I would have the SE Race Tuner (SERT) installed along with the better flowing SE Air cleaner and some nice pipes. The 103 engine has a lot of potential but is very restricted from the factory. You can do a lot with the SERT and a dyno. I'd wait till you get some miles on it and it is broken in before I started any mods.

I too was totally suprized by the sound these pipes have, another unexpected suprize (the color was our first suprise), was expecting the quietness we had on our 1999 Ultra before we upgraded the mufflers. When riding the Screamin Eagle the exhaust note reminds me of the old Police bikes, real throaty. I may be taking it to the Vance and Hines shop in Sun Valley, Ca. for the dyno and upgrade work, just 2 miles from work and they have a great rep. Just need as much info before I go in. Thanks again, Dave

Before ypu go and purchase the intake kit, check yours first. The SE bikes have their own low restriction intake that works pretty good as is. Mine came with the tall K&N on it from the factory and a low restriction backing plate too, it's just not the WIDE open one that is in the kit... Just my .02

High flow air kit, SERT (HD race tuner) and Thunder Header 2 into 1 exhaust = 94 horses.
