The latch referenced by RPMC312 is Southco latch MP05-312-11; they wholesale for ~$14.00 ea. and if you read the product description at Southco.com, the flange and pushbutton are chrome-plated die-cast zinc, the barrel and pawl are plastic, though the barrel and mechanism insideis a different design; also requires a 1.0" hole--basically stock hole.
Sorry guys, my mistake. The latch I actually purchased WAS the Squadfitters latch with the one inch hole. I godda get my head outta my ***. Sorry for the miss info. I didn't realize they were so different from the Southco latch.
This isfor those of you who are contemplating replacing the puck on the top of your police saddlebags with the Squadfitters.com chrome latch. The latch is metal and a bit pricy but fits in the existing hole with no modification needed. You may have to bend the bracket in about a quarter of an inch. That's it. Very easy and looks great. They come with four plugs to plug the holes where the puck was rivited to the top. about eighty buck a pair. Dale
For those willing to shop for the latch mechanism, it's Southco MP05-312-11; about $30 a pair from a Southco distributor; the plastic plugs can be found at Home Depot, Lowe's, etc.; or, as the Squadfitter's website shows, HD license plate hardware works well if the rivet holes are enlarged a bit.
