Default Wired for Heat...

I wired the Ultra with a power lead from the battery for my Gerbings gear today. Man, that battery is jammed in there under the seat. What a PITA to get to the terminals. I wound up snipping the ring connectors to make a U connector, rather than put the ring connectors on. I would have had to partially remove the battery , a real PITA as I said before.

Check out this pic of how I installed my gear harness with a 25 cent nylon clamp to keep the cord from dangling. Now, if you like it, you can go and pull your battery out again to reroute the wire and do the same.

The 2008 Ultra Classic (and I believe earlier models) has an accessories connection under the left side cover. It is wired to the accessories switch on the fairing, and has a 15 amp fuse. Is there any reason that you did not use this connector for the heated clothing? I have a Gerbing heated vest and am looking for the easiest way to connect.

I have the Gerbing power outlet wired directly tothe battery of my 01' RKC. When I plug in my Battery Tender, I add a short adapter cable to the Gerbing power outlet and the tender works fine. When I wear my Gerbing jacket liner, I just use the on/off toggle switch to control the temp. I will add a single controller one of these days.

I have a similar setup on my RKC. Works very nicely.

I run mine right off of the battery tender. It works great.

My accessory switch powers my rear lighted rear floor boards. I could have changed the fuse on the plug the MOCO put in for the battery charger, but it was easier to wire in the harness. I wanted it on the left side anyway.

Nice install, but I have the heat shields, so my plug is just below the seat. So far so good. Thanks.
