Idle curiousity
Ok, I know this doesn't rank up there with questions like "just how in the heck did they get them big old stones to the tops of the pyramids?" or "is there somebody out there with a bad case of grass stains from laying ona grassy knoll in Dallas?" but here is my questions of the day.
When and why did kickstand become jiffystand? I mean, when your kid comes smoking up the driveway on their mountainbike, yeah, the one you just paid good money for, and they do a moving dismount and the bike augers into the concrete, do you yell "Hey, get yer butt over here, pick this bike up and use the damn JIFFYSTAND?" Hell no! I don't care what the MOCO says, it's KICKSTAND!
Jiffystand. Hell, that sounds like something you put on a Goldwing so it doesn't tip over while you are trying to find reverse, adjust the air conditioning, and put sugar in your coffee, all at the same time. Or....perhaps a male enhancement gizzmo, but that's a whole 'nuther thread.

The kickstand became the jiffy stand at about the same time that
the sissybar became the passenger backrest
and
the crash bars became engine guards
and
the choke became the enricher.
