Oil pressure problem???
Ever since new, my 06 Ultra has low oil pressure when idling. Real hot 100 deg.plus and the oil light has come on before. 2 dealers say no problem. I run Mobil 1 20/50 now and I've noticed at cooler temps the pressure is up. 40 psi when running at 40 deg. temps. running down the road. I KNOW THAT IS NORMAL. But the bike runs differently, It will run up hill at 1500 with no ping or shake when the oil pressure is above 35 psi. The question is, Is the pressure affecting the cam profile relative to lifters staying pumped up?? I have no lifter noise when colder and a lot when hot. When it's hot outside, it will shake like a wet dog at 2200 when pulling the same hill. I ride the same stretch of roads about 3 times a week winter and summer. Bike has stage 1, V&H Ovals, SERT& Dinoed.

RE: Oil pressure problem???
With my 06 Ultra the oil pressure drops when idling to 5 to 10 psi, never noticed it till about 1000 miles ago. Does great when at speed, just during idling, no light or anything just watching gauge. I've never watched it when cold or hot, I just noticed it a while back but be sure now that you have brought it up I will from now on. Thanks for bring this to my attention that someone else is concerned about this. I know there should be a difference in pressure between idle and 2500 RPM's but I don't think it should drop that low at idle. I have synthetic in all holes, but like I said I just started noticing it 1000 mile back. No ping, difference in sound or ride, but vibrates at idle like yours, course I've hadquite a few Harley's and they all vibrated, if it did not vibrate I'd worry.

RE: Oil pressure problem???
I never had oil pressure problems as such on my 2006 ultra it just dropped down on hotter days. I recently installed some gear drive cams and when reassembling the bits I paid particular attention to aligning the oil pump and I now have an extra 8 pounds pressure and reduced drop down when hot and idling.Maybe the MoCo doesn't align the pump as good as it could be?.

RE: Oil pressure problem???
When the bike gets hot the oil gets thinner. This is normal. That is why at idle oil pressure has a low reading. (No air) In other words get moving. When the light is on that bike is starving for cool air but that light should not be coming onon a regular basis.
