Hello , Writing from Spain, I`m proud owner of a Road King classic 2008. Also had another Harleys before and many times bought from USA, much cheaper than Europe dealers...
I'm trying to find an Original HD solo seat but there are not available by now.... does any one has an 2007 seat on a new 2008 road king?.. what are the diferences? why do they not fit?----
thanks in advance..
great forum..
regards from Malaga, Costa del Sol, Spain.
welcome to the board lots of great info here.
if the road kings are like the rest of the touring bikes not sure here. but the reason may be that the new touring bikes have a 6 gallon gas tank which would cause the older seats not to work with the 2008 bikes. I ran into this problem with my 08 street glide.
hope this helps
As Dave says, the '08 models require a different seat than previous years due to the change in the tank. Mustang is currently offering a solo seat for the new models, but I have not surveyed other manufacturers. I'm considering the Mustang, but the stock seat on my '08 Road Glide is as comfortable as the Mustang was on my '07 Road King.
The way the front of the seat mounts at the tank is different on the 08's. There is a tab on the front of the bike at the tank that fits inside a slot in the seat. The older bikes are just the opposite with the tab on the seat and the slot on the bike. I don't think they can be easily adapted.
Yep, I'm looking to get one myself. Got an email from Danny Gray Enterprise last night, they will have three solo models available for the 08's in the next two to three weeks.
