Took my 08 Ultra to the dealership yesterday. The problem is therear wheel ABS sensor. Dealership said it would take 5 days for them to order a new sensor. The weather in KYwas 28 degrees yesterday morning, told them to call me when its done. If anyone else has a problem with the ABS light staying on, get the dealer to check the ABS sensors.
My ABS light came on, and stayed on when the bike had only 100 miles on it. Didn't want to bring it in before the 1K service, so I just rode with the ABS light on. Last week brought the bike in for the 1K service. Dealer called the other day, it's done. ABS fixed. Didn't mention what was wrong, but I'm anxious to find out. I'm planning on picking her up next week. (it's snowing here today[:@])
Sorry Jim and trock about you being wrong. If i wanted it i would have bought it. I don't get jealous about anything. Many people on here have more money and toys than I do but i wouldn't consider people with ABS something to be jealous about (the fact that you think that is funny to me). I just thought it was funny that problems with ABS are popping up so soon. I have a dry sense of humor and i amuse easily. I don't care for first year anything but then again i did buy a 08UC. If i find that it's that great i will add it later or just buy another one but i still don't want it right now. My comment was not meant to offend or poke fun of eddiepears (is there no end. sorry eddie but just typing you name made me chuckle a little) problem just a rib to ABS.

I don't find other people's misfortunes "funny," but this does explain your first post in this thread.
Regarding the "first year" comment, the fact is, Harley-Davidson didn't reinvent ABS when they finally started offering it on civilian bikes this year and there is nothing new about their system or its components. A handful of bad speed sensors notwithstanding, first year fears are unwarranted.

That is not true. 08 is the first year the MOCO has used the Brembo brakes, and the entire ABS system is totally new. Yes....they did offer ABS on some models, but that was before they went to Brembo's, and back when the ABS module took up half of the saddle bag.
The new ABS system on the touring models is better than in the past, but still a little new and I dont want to be part of any teething problems that may come up. I didn't get the ABS on my new 08' SG.....I didn't want it. I have been riding large displacement street bikes for 28 years and it has never been a "I must have that" or I would have bought a Yamaha, or BMW years ago. The ABS on bikes is primarily designed for panic stops on low traction surfaces. I dont ride in the rain....unless I get caught and even then I am the first one looking for a place to hide.
