Sorry Jim and trock about you being wrong. If i wanted it i would have bought it. I don't get jealous about anything. Many people on here have more money and toys than I do but i wouldn't consider people with ABS something to be jealous about (the fact that you think that is funny to me). I just thought it was funny that problems with ABS are popping up so soon. I have a dry sense of humor and i amuse easily. I don't care for first year anything but then again i did buy a 08UC. If i find that it's that great i will add it later or just buy another one but i still don't want it right now. My comment was not meant to offend or poke fun of eddiepears (is there no end. sorry eddie but just typing you name made me chuckle a little) problem just a rib to ABS.
Ah come on your delighted that his ABS light came on. And now your acting like there is a big ABS problem cause of his problem. I guess you wanted to be a " test pilot " for just the throttle by wire and Brembos not the ABS as I see you have and 08UC. If there turns out to be a big recall on ABS remind me and I'll make a public statement that your the man and saw what the rest of us test pilots couldn't see. Until then keep wishing you had got them.
Took my 08 Ultra to the dealership yesterday. The problem is therear wheel ABS sensor. Dealership said it would take 5 days for them to order a new sensor. The weather in KYwas 28 degrees yesterday morning, told them to call me when its done. If anyone else has a problem with the ABS light staying on, get the dealer to check the ABS sensors.
damn only 5 days to get the part they must be using the new china expressmail . it normally takes my local hd shoptwo weeksto get my parts from over seas .
as far as the abs Ive been ridding for 17 years never needed em before. my buddy has them on his bike they suck .puts your brakes & your life in the hands of a 30 cent Chinese circuit board.

I really liked mine till I read your post now I'm not so sure[8D] So you think the brakes quit working if the ABS malfunctions? Do a little research.

Dude, can you read? I had the option just not hip to the ABS on Harleys yet. Not so good track record with first issue for them but still highly prized machines. Was, however, ready to buy a new one. Yes, the throttle by wire did make me think a little but no options there so i figured i could handle 1 new scary upgrade. As for the Brembo, it's pistons and fluid. Does that confuse you? Hard to get that wrong. 6 gal tank is new also but i figured i would be ok so whats you thoughts on that? It sounds to me like you are trying harder to convince yourself that ABS is the **** buy telling others about how they are wrong for not fully embracing it. Hey, good luck with that. So the only choice i had with all the upgrades was the ABS and i went no on that one. Oh, lace wheels was another one but not for me. I do want to thank you for your less the convincing argument for the ABS.
Like always, we only hear from the squeaky wheel - I am very happy with my '08 FLHTC with ABS. The ABS has kicked in once, on slippery pavement when I braked quickly, gotta love it. Defective sensors typically fail in the first few weeks; obviously not all the sensors are bad, so I am not concerned.
Just wanted to post the problem and possible solution to (My) ABS issues. Did not mean to start controversy on someones ability to read, the mail system or how funny someones screen name may or may not be. Just trying to help my fellow riderssafe and on the road.
I just returned with my 08 UC from the dealer, where they fixed my ABS problem (light came on when bike had only 100 miles on it), and did the 1K mile service at the same time. The ABS problem: the front wheel sensor wire came unplugged. D-oh!
I took delivery of an 08 SERK in August and after 600 miles the ABS light came on and stayed on. I waited til 1000 mile service and was told it was just a "connection". It has apparently worked well since and I even felt it pulse once when a cager exited the interstate from the middle lane with me in the right. By the time the pulse came I had slowed enough to be safely behind him but it's nice to know it would have prevented any wheel lock up. The brakes are a bit more effective than those on my 90 RKC to say the least.

FYI, if the ABS system fails on your buddy's '08 H-D, he still has a fully-functioning, world-class Brembo brake system that is superior to anything that has come before it including the brakes on your own bike.
