I have an 06 Street Bob and they come standard with a solo seat. I have ordered a Sundowner as an extra cushion, but when I swap back to a solo, I dont want to see ugly scratches. The black denim paint is designed to wear and so it may be more noticable.
From your experience and knowledge of the product, would it fit a rear fender of a Street Bob or is it rigid and designed only to fit your bike?
I have the same rub damage on the rear fender when I go solo. So far, its just through a bit of clearcoat. I am trying to figure a way to protect the fender when I reinstall the passenger pinnion next time, so it doesnt get any worse. Perhaps using a spacer to elevate the pinnion where it mounts? It will have to wait. The bike is snowed in till spring. I do like the way a solo seat changes the look of the bike.
hey 06glide the product is called x-pel go to www.xpel.com and look up a local dealer. it's a clear bra, prevents any further damage and the bike looks s ame
Go to www.mustangseats.com and look in the HD accessories. You can get them with or without studs. They are very pliable. I didn't see one for a street bob, since they are new. Since you have a Corbin, they might make one.
I have an '06 road king that I just rolled out of the dealer 2 days ago. I took the pillion seat off last night and I see a scratch and the start of a scuff mark on the rear fender already. Is this going to be a warranty covered repair?
There's a website http://timberwolfleather.safeshopper.com/index.htm?796 that has nice leather bibs for the rear fender. I put on a Motherwell fender rack that looks real good, but my fender too is kind of dull, I've been trying to rub it out but haven't got it quite there yet.
I have the same problem. I've been rubbing it out by hand a little at a time and the marks are almost gone. A friend of mine who restores classic cars looked at them and said the marks don't go deeper than the clear coat and not to worry. I'm still cautious as hell.
I run a LePera solo on my FLHT with a modified Road King passenger pad (had to grind back the front metal bracket so that it wouldn't rub the back of the seat when installed). To keep any rub damage from occurring on the fender, I stuck some felt pads on the underside of the pad. Works great - CWO
