Really? I bet they cost a bit more than these. Got a page number? I'd be curious to see them.

Very nice write up and pictures. It was easy to follow what you wanted us to know. I'm surprised that HD hasn't offered these as a "premium" product!

I just flipped through and didn't see them. I know I saw them some where. Maybe I dreamed it but I know I saw it.

I was at the dealers on Saturday and they had this exact same thing. I don't remember what they were called but the price was $19.99.

I'm glad some folks found it useful. I'd like to see the commercially available ones for myself. Do they have tiny HD emblems ;-)?

I love using the "velcro". I took some velcro and cut about an inch strip and peeled off the backing paper to expose the sticky side and ran it through the little wire loop on the saddlebag retainer pins and stuck it to itself. I then used the hook-n-loop part and stuck it to the saddlebag so that both pieces will line up when the locking pin is in the closed position. This will act two fold. One, it will keep the pins from being rotated loose during a ride or prevent someone from popping the pin loose from outside with small screwdriver. Two, once you loosen the pins to remove the saddlebag, just turn the pin to realign the velcro to catch on the hook-n-loop side so you do not loose the pin or washer. The pins and washers will always be ready to line up in the locks when saddlebags are ready to be re-installed on bike. I even use the velcro to attach my riding glasses to the lids. As shown, I have one pair of sunglasses and one pair of clear that are attached to the lid with a couple strips of the velcro. Great stuff and super cheap. I think I paid $5 for a box with both strips about two feet long each.

Default Fairing/speaker insulation

I used leftover 1/4 inch closed cell carpet underlay and spray adhesive to cut down on vibration and to help with the new speakers I installed.

Total cost was 7.99 for the can of adhesive, I had leftover underlay but you can pick it up real cheep at any hardware store. It made a noticeable difference in the sound of my stereo.

The cuts would have come out a lot cleaner if I wasn't so hammered when I was doing it.

Default Roadking Rear Fender support

Gents,
After a good cleaning I noticed that my lower bag/fender support was busted.

So I decided to make some brackets to re attach the unit.
I started out with Aircraft grade aluminum 3/4 by 3 " drilled 2 holes, one in each end. twisted 90 deg and painted

Attached the bracket to the lower bag/fender support and to the lowest hole in the fender trim

Tightened and LocTite the blots. Note you will have to readjust the pin locks on your saddle bags and adjust the position of your mufflers if you have fins . The bike will sag if this has been broken for a while, so when you lift it back into position check everything well!!
