Also, why move the mic to the fairing instead of leaving it in the tank panel?
Kind of what I was thinking. I don't see where this would be any better than the tank spot.

I did not have a comm dash. I had the extension harness which mounts at bottom of the tank. I tested the mic in several positions, including the spot just below gas cap. Clarity was best with this spot as it was in sight of me talking. Other spots you have to look down and talk to make it clear. Just something that I thought worked out better and wanted to share.

I have 3.5" Rinhart exhaust and they are pretty loud. I have used headset and stuff before and works pretty well. Once winter is over I will be able to try it out a bit more.

I removed my right rear speaker due to an annoying magnet rattle. I installed two radio shack sirens, velcroed inside the empty speaker cavity. It damn near blows out your eardrums drums when it goes off.

When my harley heated grips failed after about two years on my 2006 ultra,I installed snowmobile handle bar heaters. I tapped into the cigarette lighter circuit, added 5 amp inline fuse and installed a high low switch in the faring. Total cost if i remembers was about 35 dollars. Still working fine 8 years later.
