Question for the crowd, internally wiring a set of handlebars on the 2014 street glide. Question is can I cut the connectors off and splice them back together or are these coaxial cable's?
When I did mine, they appeared to be just normal unshielded wire. I did not however cut them to confirm that. I just bought the
Extensions.
On my old 06 road glide, I did cut and add length. They were not coaxial wire, and they worked fine. I just was extremely careful and soldered them back together with heat shrink around each wire.
In hindsight, it is worth the few $'s to buy the extensions. They really aren't that expensive.
They cost me $17 plus tax.
That's why I didn't try it this time.
Since the cb doesn't work on my Ultra, I decided to remove the antenna.
I covered the antenna bolt with a cover I made from a plastic wheel post.
I cut off the post, drilled out a hole and tapped it with a 1/4 tap, and screwed it on the post. Looks great. Cost$0.
Holy crap!!!!!!!!!! 3 days and I'm FINALLY finished reading this whole thread! Lots a great ideas that I'd like to try or WILL try myself.
I did a mod myself about a month after my wife bought me my 05 Road King. I installed a Billet Boys LED brake light (PN- BB7010). I removed the stock taillight lens, cut out the guts, and inserted the LED board. It was a direct plug and play! SUPER bright!!! Sorry but no actual pics of me doing this.
