HD has an adjustable passenger floorboard mount that gives the passenger 5 different positions to choose from, easily adjustable with a hex wrench. I'm going to get these for my wife sometime over the winter to make our 08 Ultra more comfortable for her short legs. Don't know the part number, but know that it is in the big parts catalog. Not real cheap, but if it keeps the wife happy its worth it.
I`ve got a bad back, bad leg, bad shoulder, bad everything! If I didn`t have a Ultra, I would be mostly grounded. I really think you would be pleased with one. Or two, or three... It`s the only "big" bikeI can ride. Wife loves it too, when I fell up to carring her.

ecramer,
What dealers have you been to? I have always been treated friendly and great at Eastgate, Tennessee Ave, and Aces and Eights. I know there are some cases where I have talked to people that have had bad experiences but you can't always win. Delmer is a great guy at Aces & Eights, Steve Brock is also a great guy. I personally had a bad experience at Buckminns in Xenia but have friends that swear by them and their deals. My dad is actually selling his 1998 Ultra Classic that is loaded with just about every piece of chrome and low miles. If you are interested you can pm me or e-mail at randyt@zoomtown.com here is a pic but I have a lot more I can e-mail. He asking $14,500 OBO it has 24,000 miles, it is fuel injected, it is located in sharonville. You could call him directly at 513-348-0100.
I'm with ya !!! I rode my buddy's 04 Ultra for a whole day here about a year ago. I realized at the end of the day . . . No fatigue . . . whatsoever.
I am making one last ditch attempt to make the Heritage work-able for 300 mi + day rides. I have similar issues (back & neck).
So I now have a Mustang seat, I am putting the softer riding (stock) rear shocks in it. If it's still a pain (literally), I'll just have to take it in the shorts, try to get the most I can for it (ebay?) and look for a good deal on a used EG or RG. Maybe pop for a new one . . . All the dealers around here are overloaded with em. Pick your color . . . So I'm sure there's deals to be had. There's one dealer up the penninsula who is guarenteed 10 % below (real) msrp.
I rode crotch rockets for 4 years through high school. Joined the navy, Did not ride again, about 15 years, until I bought my 04 heritage. Loved it, but I was ok for about 3 days of 600 miles a day. Wife good for about 4-5 hours a day on the heritage. Got ultra late this summer. No problems doing about 800 a day for both us now. I love my 2 wheeled couch.
Get the 08 if you have the cash. People seem more satisfied with the 08 the 07 bikes. You get the 6 gallon tank, throtle by wire, improved cruise control,IDS on the rear wheel. ABS is availble as a option. People usually like the newer equipment so resale should be better as well. More heat, bigger motor 96in. Air cooled not water cooled like the Wing. I have found the Kuryakyn adjustable passenger pegs to work really well for the wife. You get a 2 year unlimited mileage warrantyon the 08. Try rent one and you will be hooked!
Good Luck,
Mr_Bill
I have the same backgrooundas you. I've had surgery on both shoulders for rotator cuff tears in the last 2 years. I'm still coming back from the 2nd one. I had a 1300C VTX and bought our 07 Ultra on 10/1/07. From my experience there is no comparision to the UC. My shoulders don't hurt at all and the ride is far superior to the X. We have not been on any long trips yet; nothing over 200 miles. My wife loves riding now. I looked at the Goldwing also; and decided the riding position was too cramped for me. From what I've read on this board so far; I would vote for getting the 08 if you can afford it. It has the better brakes, IDS and it seems as the 07 has more of a heat issue. I haven't had mine in the summer yet, so we'll see. I will be getting the RJOriginals heat deflector before summer. Hope this helps a little. Ride safe.
I also have a bad shoulder and mid back pain at times. I had a 1100 Honda Shadow ACE before I got my Ultra. I sold it because my back would begin to bother me after an hour or so. With the Ultra I have no problems and can ride all day. As for the heat I added the Stage 1 Air Filter added a Vance and Hines Fuel Pak and Vance and Hines oval slip-ons as well as the RJ Originals heat shields. I also added the IDS for a smoother ride. All in all it cost me an additional $1200 to get the bike the way I wanted it. So if you get 07 that is what it will cost to make run well and cool.
