Default windshield question

Newbie Question,

How hard is it to replace a windshield on an e-glide?
Is it a do it yourself project?

Also, any road glide owners staying with their stock seat?
If so, how is the fit and feel?
Good for the long ride?

thanks,
magnoliarunner

Mine is just three screws to loosen and pull up on the screen. Hardest part is paying for another screen.

Its about a five minute job. Take out three screws slide the old shield out and new one in. No problem.

YES....05' Road Glide with 16,000 miles on the stock seat and no complaints! It's one of the best seats that I've sat on.

Mag-You'll just need a 27 TORX bit....typically 1/4" drive and if you also include a short extension it helps keep the action further away from the paint.

Thanks All,

Sounds simple enough.
Now I need to decide what heighth windshield to buy. Probably 9 1/2".
Is stock a smoke or clear?

I am considering a road glide seat also to get rid of the large passenger pillion.
I don't ride 2 up at all.

I love the 9 1/2" on my 1999 Ultra, it is smoke (Dark). The new Screamin Eagle we got is too short for my liking 6", so we ordered the H.D. 9 1/2" smoked, was almost clear and not what I wanted. After a bunch of looking I found eGlideGoodies.com and they had all the options I wanted. The new shield arrived yesterday. Dave

The only thing I can add is to cover up the fender and gas tank with clean towels. You won't believe what you can drop.

One suggestion, lube the windshield screws lightly before re-installing and DO NOT overtighten. They strip easy [ the insert likes to twist in the plastic- so adding a little white lube to threads will keep screw from sticking in threads].
