Default Road Glide mods

Hey forum, I ordered a Road Glide and would like to know what if anything that needs to be done straight from the dealership. I currently ride a BMW RT 1100 and thought that the Glide would give me a better riding position. I put 53000 miles on the Rt in Four years and hope the HD will be as good as the Beemer.
I was wondering about a Supertrapp exhaust 2 in to 1. I have also read about a mod for the fuel injection map, if the pipes are changed.
How about tires does anyone use Metzlers or is Dunlop the tire of choise. Sorry for the long stream of questions but I get the bike in about three weeks.
Thanks in advance for the help.

A 2 INTO ONE VANCE AND HINES PRO PIPE WITH A STAGE 1 DOWNLOAD WILL DOYOU GOOD. GO A BIT FURTHER AND DO AN S&S GEAR DRIVE CAM 510G. OR GO STAGE 2 WITH 95 INCH BIG BORE AND USE TW-37 ANDREWS GEAR DRIVE.METZLER IS A VERY GOOD TIRE PROBABLY BETTER THAN DUNLOP. I USE DUNLOP BECAUSE A HARLEY DEALER WILL ALWAYS HAVE ONE IF I AM ON THE ROAD AND THAT IS NOT THE CASE WITH METZLERS.

Do the stage one with a dyno tune and you will be happy. I have the V&H pro pipe myself and love its sound and performance, but after the dyno was even happier. I am going to try the new Dunlop EliteIII next tmie around, I dont like the ride and handling of the factory Dunlops at all.

If you are going to do that kinda work on your bike, PLEASE don't do the Harley Download. Put on a SERT (HD Screamn' Eagle Race Tuner) or the DynoJet Power Commander (PCIII) so that the bike can be properly tuned to your modifications. The hd download is a bandaid fix that is a one size fits all. The SERT or PCIII will allow you to tune your air/fuel ratio from start to top end. The bike will run great.

The mods you listed all sound good. I personally don't like a 2 into 1 on a bagger but that is just me.

Have a great time

Woo hoo! Another fellow beemer owner buyin' a Road Glide! [sm=happy046.gif] Welcome!

I'm currently on an '06 1200RT but moving over to a Road Glide for both the riding position and that HD signature low-end torque. At this point, my plans are to run it completely stock - then start pimping and perf'ing it out once I've put some miles on it (and saved up some additional $$$). The RG I demo'ed at the dealer had the Stage 1 and SE slip-ons installed. It sounded good but I can't honestly say that it felt any different than stock. Of course, it was a new bike and I was mindful not to thrash it during my demo.

Keep in mind that a completely stock TC88 with stock pipes will sound infinitely better than the wet fart exhaust note of your oilhead.

Gotta love the Road Glide. I've wanted a bagger for a while. When I got serious, I rode lots of Ultras. I couldn't get over the feeling that I was steering a school bus. Then I got on the Road Glide. I'd heard from several long-time HD riders that folks who buy a Road Glide never trade or sell 'em. I knew why immmediately. I loved it and bought the bike on the spot.

My Roady had 2500 miles on when I bought it. The original owner had the dealer download the HD Stage 1 and put on a set of Rhinehart true duals. It seems like a lot of the baggers in my area have Rhineharts. I *love* the sound and she performs pretty well, too.

I gotta tell you, though. I keep hearing about the Power Commander. That one bears some consideration. I'm shy of the big bore kit because I've heard that it trashes your milage. The line on the PC is you can get much of the big-bore performance out of an 88, if the mechanic knows how to tune her. Anybody hear got any leads on where I can learn more about the PC?

Thanks!

Personally I hate Dunlop and can't wait til mine need replacing so I can go to Metzler. I run Metzler on my sportbikes as well and love the feel you get from them.

I would go with the SERT especially if you ever plan on bumping up the engine size. The PCIII is not bad as that's what alot of sportbikes run.
