EGC shuts down.
I had a similar problem with my '99 EGC. It turned out to be the main fuse breaker and was fixed under a recall. I still have the recall number around here somewhere in this pile waiting to be filed. They suspected as much when I finally gave up and took it in, but like the other guys said, it is not the only reason for the symptoms you describe. I thought I was hitting the kill switch the first two times it happened. I agree on the scary part and agree with don't letting it get to you first.

The main fuse breaker was fixed on the recall about a year ago I think. But thats not to say its going bad. Think im gonna change the Bank Angle Sensor and see what happins then.
Buy a shop manual for your bike and an electronics manual.
Check Zanotti or Chicago HD for better pricing than your local dealer.
crank sensor, left side of bike, look at front of engine down by the oil filter.
VSS vehicle speed sensor, next to the neutral switch on top of tranny
Bank angle sensor is in the turnsignal assembly, under seat right rear of battery.
When bike dies do you lose all electrical?
If so suspect the main circuit breaker. Under seat, in front of battery. Or poor battery cable
connections. clean and tighten at BOTH ends. Make sure starter bolts are tight.
Next would be the ignition switch itself.
If all electrical stays on then suspect a bad crank sensor, fuel pump relayor ECM relay.
Possibly a bad fuel pressure regulator, but that's not very common.

I had a bad bank angle sensor go out on my Road King. But for how you say it runs my RK never ran that long. It ran for about 30 seconds to a minute before it would die. Disconnected the Sensor and it would run fine but my engine light was on. So I changed the sensor and had no more problems. Hope this helps you find the problem. Let everyone know what fixes yoour bike.

If you have a service manual it tells you how to retrieve the fault codes and what they mean, without going to the stealer. You just use the ignition switch and count flashes on the check engine light. At least on my 99 EGC you could, because I used it often!
[/align]I also have had this same thinghappen on a 97 Ultra, and my current 02 Ulrta.[:@] Thanks for the info!
