Comfortable Interstate speed
I prefer the backroads and the twisties up here in New Hampshire.
Whenon a highway I ran my old bike around 75. The speed limit around here ismostly 65 so I don't push my luck with the local law enforcement. They will give you some wiggle room but when you are more that 10 over they step in.
I imagine will runthe new 08 Road Glide about the same.

I am the speed limit kid. Got one ticket i knowI know I did not deserve. 62 in a 45 twenty yards after leaving a Taco Bell. Could not convince the ahole LEO or the court, even with the Taco Bell - time stamped- receipt.
But, on the interstate, here in Texas, my 01, 80 is loud, but comfortable.

Seriously though, one reason I bought a RG is so I could put the radar detector on it. I drive with one in my truck and insist on one on my bike... I like to keep track of where those rascals are at! The radar detector is more useful for me though running around town. It is REAL easy to be going 20 over the posted limit just running through the gears and even though I don't ride 20 over sometimes I hit 20 over and the radar is there to give me a heads up.
I always ride according to road conditions so I don't have a fast hard rule about what speed I travel on what type of road. On the Interstate it depends on where I'm at. Between Austin and DFW or San Antone the traffic and turbulence is such that 70 to 75 is about the norm but when traffic is congested I may be running 65 or 60. I don't fight the traffic but try to run with the flow. Passing big rigs I often hit 80 or 85. I seldom ever use the cruise control. There's just too many variables.
On the open road however when conditions are good and traffic is light I'll roll on out to 80 or 85 and I will use the CC.

On my 08 EGC 2,800 RPM = 80 mph. That rpm is right about where the high torque is. rarin to go at that speed at a wack of the throttle!!
