seens cheaper than buying a bigger one. trying to get more preformace.have already done motor work. am runin the fuller now was going to the SERT next.
your sig...states you have a 2006 model.....
Do you have or have you had the larger injectors put in?
H-D introduced a larger TB OEM for 2006 models...
Half of the production year model came with 8 degree injectors andat mid year had to switch to 25 degree injectors because some units were experiencing dirveability problems (not enough fuel for the bigger bore). 25 degree injectors are the same injectors used on 103 engines.
See Service Bulletin M-1185
Take a peak and see what you have....you can see the imprint of the part numbers on the injectors if you do some peeping.
8 degree injector part # 27625-06
25 degree injector part # 27709-06A
To answer your question, I believe Dakota Kid can bore your stock TB. There may be others as well.
I've read and been told by people I trust that the stock TB is capable of supporting over 115 hp. Is your build making numbers above that? You probably already know this, but there are some downsides to larger TB.
1) More hp usually, but less tq as well. I personally subscribe to the more tq the better theory ont hese heavy HD's.
2) Loss of smooth power delivery. As you go up in size of TB, the more the throttle acts like an on/off switch.
3) Usually not very good bang for the buck
This is just my opinion. There are several on this site that have real work experience with larger TB's. Phil - Bryan - anyone else?
thats a good Queston? after i did the motor work in 06 the stealer ship told me about the change. talked to my mechanic and we thought that this would be a good ideal to do the upgrade. so the shop instaled the newer injectors with a new download.the numbers on the dyno went down big time and my mechanic could not bring them back up. so after arguing with HD we got the old injectors back and reinstaled them. still dyno numbers down. figured it was the download went to another shop and had the stock download put back in numbers went back to what we stared with. go figure
