Depends on what you want to do with it... I have a XM mounted on my RG and that is what's playin 90% of the time while on the PUTT and I also can move it over to the car or truck...
I didn't go with the HD as they want way to much for there system... Rumor has it that the 2 sat companies are to merge soon... Soooo???
Which one? I went with the XM Sportcaster cost was $19.00 after rebate and there normal monthly service charges..

Boy you have that hooked up nicely, So Cal. I keep thinking about satelite radio. Hate to pay 500 for HD but hate things hanging all over. Your hook-up might be ok for me. Hard to see how it is installed and how it comes off, velcro?
Chuck1,
Velcro is right... Ran the power line and the antenna into the fairing - Hooked up the power to the back side of the lighter & mounted the Antenna to the top of the radio housing... (others have mounted there's to the top on there HD radio unit...) I liked Sportscaster being small and you can just about stick it anywhere... Have the additional hook ups for the Home & Truck as I like my tunes.. None of these systems are waterproff but it rips right off and stash in a sec... Easy removal when parked also...
Relli,
According to there last new break it will not make any differance as they both will still keep there line-ups - Which unit... I left there web pages above go check them out...
Just as an FYI, it appears that the two satellite services, XM & Sirius, will be merging early next year. I don't know what it will mean for subscribers, but it may be worth looking into before you purchase the service.
As an aside, I was watching Mad Money the other night and Cramer was saying the the Sirius stock, which is currently at $3.00 a share, should go up to $6.00 a share when the merger goes through. Could be a way to make a quick buck or two.
I have been with XM for 5 years. I LOVE IT!! I am getting the new "Inno" this week. Its an Mp3 player, XM combined. You can record up to 50 hrs. of audio (either XM or download your own tunes)
The music and newschannels are similar. They both cover major conference college football and basketball. There area few differences:
XM - Major League Baseball, NHL and PGA tour. Opie and Anthony
Sirius - NFL, NBA and Nascar. Howard Stern
All the reports say the merger should make things a little better. No one really knows what the package will look like... but it seems that you will keep your regular subscription package and be able to add channels from the other "Ala Carte".
I love the continuity. I drive from Southern Cal. to Seattle a few times a year. It is great to not have to search for a radio station (Except for a minute or two in the mountains or in a tunnel) The system needs line of sight with the satelite so you lose reception when there is some type of blockage. They say clouds can interfere but i have never had that issue.
I personally have XM in my car and also had it on my bike when I went from PA to Calif a couple of years ago - it really is almost a necessity if you want to keep up with the news since out west, FM is sometimes hard to find. I have the old Roady (I think it's called that) and a waterproof covering for it which comes in handy when the rain starts and you can't take the unit off its mount (like while riding a city bypass at 70 mph). Here's the >>>LINK<<< for the rain covers. It's nice to be able to transfer the receiver from one vehicle to another - most allow you to do that. If you can't hard wire the unit to your regular radio, be sure to buy one that allows you to pick an FM channel on whihc to receive the XM audio (requires the proper XM hardware). The guys at Ciruit City are very helpful, btw. They'll install a unit into your car or truck and then you can decide how to adapt it to your bike. Again, if you like to tour (that means, over night type riding), XM or sirius is a real plus. It really helps to keep me alert during boring interstate mileage.

I don't think you can lose either way.
I have theInno and loveit. No need for me to carry my MP3player anymore, gaveit to the kids.
I love the recording features and the ultra portability.
I plan on making a mount sytem for it over the winter months.
You guys are lucky you don't live in New England. The XM coverage just plain sucks in this area. Not bad if you have one in a house but go mobile and for get it.
