Sorry about your accident!
Sucks about your bike!
Most important, you did not get hurt worst, glad to see that.
Are not you glad you had that full face helmet on. That ground would of been nasty to your face!
If that is not proof that helmets work, I do not know what is!
ORIGINAL: BOARGAURD
Construction workers had been tracking mud onto the 2 lane blacktop country road and it was a light rain. Absolutly no time to react kind of like black ice. I was going 15-20 mph and the rear wheel broke loose, bars locked to the right and slammed me down hard must have slide 30 feet or more into oncoming traffic lane. Thank God no one was coming. Fractured, broken left wrist is my only injury, there is a reason we wear all this gear. Bike truly does not look that bad but the dealership is upwards to $7,000 I should find out more today.
Two cars behind me just kept going as I came to a stop and stood up.
I'm glad you aremostlyall right. I sure hated to hear about this. Your pictures have got me thinking. I've got a full face helmet, but it sits at the house, most of the time. I may have to change that...
Take care of yourself. Like Phil said, maybe we can have a rebuild party if its just the bolt on stuff....
Jason, good to hear, no on-coming traffic- locked up my bike in Oct - avoiding a U-turn- judging from the pictures, my 07 Ultra received the same amount of damage, I got a fractured Collar bone and broke toe. O7 is still waiting for a Fuel Tank backordered til Jan. I went ahead and traded for a 08 Ultra, with ABS. Totally pleased with the 08- Wish you a speedy recovery.
couldn't see your picture but glad you're ok. christmas will have extra meaning this year. hope all works out ok on bike too. merry christmas brother.....always ride safe
I too went down in July this year when I hit gravel on the pavement in a corner while leaned over on my 07 FLHX! From what I was told by someone who witnessed the accident, the bike and I hit together and then parted company. The bike did a 360 over my head when the front wheel dug into the soft shoulder and I bounced along the pavement for about 100 feet before coming to a stop. Bike ended up at the bottom of an 8 foot deep ditch wheels down facing the opposite direction and I sat up on the highway with nothing broken thank God! My helmet was a full face and looked just like yours. I don't think I would have had a face left without it!
Took me 5 days to get over the impact bruises and swellingbefore I was back on 2 wheels again.
Take your time, heal well and ride on!
Wow, glad you were able to walk away. Everytime I see a helmet after a crash like yours I feel stupid wearing my 1/2 helmet. I know I should be wearing my FF all the time, but it's just not comfortable in warm weather. But those pics are scary and a wake up call.
Yup, glad you are okay. And thanks for the wake up call. I've been thinking of getting a full face helmet and this just might do it for the long trips.
Everyone says they should get a "full face helmet" for long trips. One must realize 90% of these accidents take place within 2 miles from home on city streets and country roads. You are better off with a half helmet on the super slabs and a full face around town or for short rides. It always kills me when people say I have a half helmet for short rides. I think a full face should go on before the leg goes over regardless of how far you are going. Hope you heal quick and have a graet holiday.
