In response to Cannon00000

Primarily for the look and some may lower the bike because they have some
difficulty getting on or off. Some may lower both the front and rear and
some lower just the rear to give the bike the swept back look.

If you do lower it be careful, some lowering kits (new shocks) will make you lose some travel. Other kits simply move the bottom shock mount back to lower the rear & keep the travel. I personally don't have any expieriance with the later. I have driven a friends RK Custom and the lack of some travel was noticable but not too bad. If you pack up and travel heavy at times you may notice it more.
If so its best to contact your H.D. dealership. They're probably more up to speed on different options.

..........White Brothers makes a nice lowering kit for the rear, displaces the origin point 1.5 " lower, uses the same shocks.

by using the lowering kits you reduce the shock angle thereby increasing the chance of bottoming out. try 12" shocks and replace the shock oil with a 7.5/ 10 synthetic oil to improve the damping effect. lower ride better handling

The RK Custom and CVO RK come with the 12.5 from the factory. The front fork height is the same on all touring. I would recommend the Progressive 440's in 12.5. If not the 12.5 HD Shocks (low pro). I wouldn't go with a lowering kit. IMO. The 440's eliminate the air line and can be adjusted for by hand depending on the load.

I realized I typed the wrong info. 12 inch in the rear. I have the Progressive 12" 440's Heavy Duty. Sorry for the mistake. In regards to lowering the front with the rear, I only did the rear. HD didn't lower the front on the SG and Custom. Only the lower shocks in the rear.
