I just demo'd an 07 Ultra. Great bike, very smooth. However, I experienced bad helmet buffering. I felt a lot of dirty air on my head. I'm 6 feet tall with a long torso and wondered if anyone else experienced this. One sales guy recommended a shorter screen and another recommended a taller one.
What do you guys think?
BTW, the dealer is going to let me demo a RG next week so I can compare the two bikes.
Was the bike stock? Have you ridden a bike like this type before? You could always get a taller windshield, I like the Clearview recurve. Another thought would be to lower the seat and that would help, see MeanCity Cycles for your seat. Highly recommended by several members here including me.
Was the air coming over the windshield, or up from the front of the tank? You should be able to use your hand and feel the flow of air up and over the windshield and be sure.
Many of us have installed the fork baffle and stopped a lot of air that was coming up from below.
My old bike was a Dyna - I even had a windshield on it and still got blasted constantly. My StreetGlide is a totally different beast - very little to no buffeting compared to the Dyna. I had a little helmet buffeting just from the low windscreen (stock 4") so I put on a 6" windscreen and it disappeared. Figure out where it's coming from and put on the baffle or taller windshield to cut it down.
