Ultrasweet: Now that you went from the EG to the RG, can you give a comparison as to the ride/handling between the two? Is the difference very noticable or just somewhere in the can't really tell catagory?? Thanks.......

I still have my 07 UC and it has been a good ride from the start. All my upgrades for power (air filter, exhaust) have made a difference. I have an IDS which made the bike run a bit smoother overall. Since I have always had motorcycles without the so-called ABS, it is not a big deal to me. I am not going to take a loss just to have ABS or an 08 model. Even though I still have lust for a 08 Screaming Eagle Road King.
ohhhhh man I got a woody when I looked at and sat on one of those SERK's at Sturgis this year, awesome scooter

Most report that the difference is astounding. I am not an experienced enough rider to tell the difference but I think it does handle better. I have only been riding since Oct. 06' but I have logged about 12000 miles on 6 different bikes in the last year. I liked my Ultra but I LOVE my Road Glide. I hate riding in the wind, It has become a challenge for me. I ride on every windy day I can. The EG with the batwing was a chore for me in the wind especially on the freeway. The RG was a vast improvement in that department. I still get some buffeting but the handlebars don't go back and forth when riding in dirty air. If you are thinking about the RG then rent one. You won't be dissapointed. T.

Traded a 07 Wide Glide for a 08 Electra Glide Standard. Time to git a bike that I can ride all day with some comfort. Age is starting to catch up with me. Man what a great ride.
Got a friend with a Road Glide. Its a nice running bike. It has a fixed fairing and rides very good. I just like my big bat wing to hide behind.

Well, I have only ridden the Road GLide for maybe 10 miles on the interstate, but I wasn't impressed much as pertaining to wind and buffeting. I don't have any handlebar shake on my Ultra in "dirty" air, and it handles crosswinds just fine. I guess it boils down to what floats your boat. [8D]

I would like to have the ABS and 6 gallon tank but have way too much invested in my 07 Ultra and counting.

My 08 didn't come through with ABS. I bought it off the dealer's floor. If the bike had ABS that would have been a plus but it wasn't something that I felt thatstrongly about. I got a gooddeal on the new bike that was sitting in front of me so I took it.
Unless I had a lemon I sure wouldn't take a hit trading in an 07 just to get ABS.

Jeez, I'm still riding my 2001 electra glide with about 50k miles. I'd feel guilty getting rid of it. Sort of became like a family member.

Add the IDS to an 07 and you've pretty much got a new bike. No need to trade unless you're wanting a different model.

I traded my beloved '07 Road King for an '08 Road Glide and am very happy. Don't get me wrong - the Road King was a superb bike, and when I rode up to the dealer on that fateful Thursday afternoon, I had no idea that I would be riding home on a new bike. Something just bit me, and the trade was decent enough.

The Road Glide is a totally different animal, and I think it's going to be more comfortable for longer trips than the King. I haven't looked to see about all the differences between the '07s and '08s, but the engine seems quieter and the drivetrain smoother. I don't hear 5th gear anymore, and the IDS seems to really smooth things out. The bike seems to vibrate less at highway speeds, perhaps due to the new stabilizer on the front cylinder. I didn't get the ABS option, but the Brembo brakes are truly superb. The full frame mounted fairing provides a quieter "cockpit" than the windshield on the Road King - not as stylish as the King, but probably more comfortable on a long tour. The alloy wheels give me a little more peace of mind on long trips vs the spoked wheels on the King (but the black alloys are rather boring). Overall, I'm really pleased with the new Road Glide, but I must admit it lacks the great nostalgic style of the Road King. But it's probably not the last bike I'll ever own... when HD comes out with a liquid-cooled touring model, I'll probably be taking a long look at that one.
